"The Mor" is Sci-fi Thriller at its finest. Prepare to read well into the night! I couldn't put it down. -SJ Pierce, bestselling author of the Captivated Series ★★★★★

One universe. Two different races. One common enemy.

When the benevolent race known as the Illuminous visited earth back in the 1950's, they weren't aware of the aliens who had attached themselves to the hull of their ship. The Mor, also known as 'Seeds', found Earth to be a poor choice for a new home, but a home, nonetheless. When three brilliant college students inadvertently stumbled on a formula that enhanced the Mors' ability to communicate and grow at an incredible rate, the race was on to reverse what had been done before all of life was destroyed.

The Mor is a stand-alone sci-fi Thriller with elements of Romance. Suitable for ages 15 and up.

Excerpt:

David flipped off the shroud and stared down at the mess for a moment. "Sam, I need you to do me a favor," he said.

"Um, sure. Okay."

"I need you to go upstairs."

Sam shuffled his feet. "Well, being this is my lab and all, I'd rather stay if it's all the same to you."

David Wyatt turned around and Sam could see the man had removed the glove from his left hand. It had an eerie little glow to it and appeared to be a whitish, fleshy color.

"No, it isn’t the same to me.”

I couldn’t put the book down. The story starts strong, setting the tone of this science fiction action thriller, where two alien races have come to earth; one to cooperate while the other festers and waits. Nothing can stop the sequence set in motion by three unsuspecting young scientists. Tension escalates until it seems all hope is lost, culminating in a nail-biting climactic ending. I was enthralled and kept thinking what a great movie it would make. It’s well-worth reading.

Intriguing story line and interesting characterizations. The author show insight into human motives and interactions through descriptive narration and dialogue. Fast but but well paced Worth buying!

Fighting a desperate battle against a hidden invader? “The Mor” by Steve Soderquist sets the stage for the invasion of the Earth by a strange race which cares nothing for humanity, but only for their own survival. Humanity engaging to destroy the interlopers has established especially adapted and trained cleaners. They together with seekers have been trying to eradicate the invaders while keeping the world’s population from understanding the threat they were all living with.
Three students devise a strange chemical compound and unknowingly stumble on something that will speed the world’s doom. They race to find a cure for the damage they accidentally created. Fast paced, tightly written, “Seeds” is a horror delight for the aficionado of the genre. If you are looking for an excellently written sci-fi horror tale, then “The Mor” is your obvious choice.

A fast paced read that will keep you wondering until the end. Can Joshua and Angel save the planet or will the aliens win. Get yourself a copy and find out!!I'm not sure I will be able to look at kernels of corn the same way again, thanks Steve!
I gave it 4.5 stars instead of 5 because when I really like a book it's never long enough for me.
I look forward to checking out more of Steve's work.

Dawne Dominique on Barnes and Noble wrote:

The Mor is a classic science fiction / horror novel. For me it had undertones of John Carpenter, Alfred Hitchcock and Wes Craven all rolled into one fantastic (sometimes frightening) read. Without giving too much away... The Illuminous came to Earth to begin anew; unfortunately, The Mor (evil plant-like aliens] hitched a ride on their spaceship. While the Illuminous revealed themselves to humankind, the Mor hid and fed off humans (you’ll have to read how they do this...YUCK)!

We follow the main characters, Angel and Joshua (Angela is an Illuminous and Joshua is a Cleaner, a human trained and equipped with one prosthetic hand to help destroy the Mor) who are partners and work together to rid the planet of these horrid plant-like creatures.

In other news (don’t you just hate that) a bunch of college students perfect a serum/fertilizer which creates super-plants. Although with good intentions, some of this serum is exposed to a Mor. Not good. Needless to say it becomes Hell on Earth.

Angela, Joshua and the college students must work together to save planet Earth, but is it too late?

This is definitely a page turner and a “must read” for all you horror/sci-fi enthusiasts.

Excerpt:

The clanging was barely audible at first. Brad held his breath, straining to hear it, but his fearful heart throbbed in his ears and made it difficult to pinpoint, It seemed to come from a great distance, but from every direction. Brad allowed himself to exhale a stagnant gasp, trying to silence it in shudders. The sound became clearer, seemed to be getting closer. One repetitive sound, as if Brad was trapped in a huge bell jar and some giant finger kept tapping the glass. His breaths were still coming in staccato relief, but the clanging Had now increased in volume significantly. Brad called an image to mind of the Sunday walk to church with his family as a child. The tintinnabulations of the mighty bell growing in intensity as they grew closer to the massive stone edifice that had always filled him with dread. This sound had the same effect.

Ard Jay Solstad crash-lands on a faraway unknown planet during a meteor storm and must survive for at least three months before the signal bouy can reach someone to dispatch rescue. Ard is stunned to meet the last survivor of the planet, a silicon-based humanoid who looks like the stained glass suncatcher he had in his window as a child. Despite the odds they fall in love as they both try to survive on what they can glean from his ship---glass for her---and carbon-based foods for him from the planet. But, facing almost certain death as she cannot physically leave her planet, Ard must leave her behind when the droid ship arrives to rescue him.
Three years later now Captain Solstad returns with a full complement of miners for the lucrative claim that basically gives him the planet, and settlers to repopulate the empty planet…to find his beloved wife alive, and his SON, half Terran and half Preth. TeeCee’s and their son’s telepathic abilities aid in the investigation of colony bigots and prevent tragedy, while the community and the surviving Preth come to terms with their existence and their changed world.

“I already know that I want nothing more than to be with you, husband,” TeeCee stated simply. “I should like some nourishment, but there is one more element of the day that you must undertake.” She smiled at his raised eyebrow. “You have the duty and might I hope pleasure of removing this gown from your bride so that we may consummate this marriage.”
“Not that we haven’t already,” he chuckled, “but I have been looking forward to the wedding night, if I can admit that without sounding like a lecher.”
“It is only lechery if it is misdirected,” she returned.

Ard leaned over and kissed her softly. “Once you have a working synthesizer, I think you should write down some of these lovely thoughts of yours. I know the Terran women will eat up our love story, when expressed by your heart.”

The world disintegrated around Titus Sirocco in a crescendo of heat, shrapnel, and cacophonic screeches.
“Pit!” he screamed as he collapsed. Part of the door had become lodged in his leg, and pain poured through his veins. He cowered as rubble showered down on them. He flailed and grabbed Kelton’s leg. Kelton looked back at him wildly. “Get out of here! Get every-!”
Whump! The second explosion smashed the weakened building from within like a firecracker in a clenched fist.
When Titus opened his eyes, he saw Kelton staring at him from a few inches away from where he lay cheek down against the stone path. Titus yelled at him over the din. “Get the kids out, I’m fine!”
Kelton didn’t respond. He didn’t even blink. Kelton never blinked, no matter what was thrown at him.

Desperate to get away from the collapsing lab, Titus forced himself up on his knees, his injured leg twitching, and offered a hand to his friend. Only then did he see the chunk of masonry that had struck Kelton’s head. His friend’s stony composure would never again be shaken.
At the scream of twisting metal, Titus looked upwards. The building loomed farther and farther over his head. Then It fell.
