"I realized not only her physical wounds needed healing, but her mental ones did too."
Distraught after an argument with her abusive husband, Kayla Grayson miscalculates a sharp curve on the interstate. Close to death, a stranger changes her life forever.
Cain Westbrook, a wealthy bachelor, has always protected his existence to avoid witch-hunts for his kind. Alone for six centuries, he didn't expect to find his true mate dying on the interstate. Before he can stop himself, he does the unthinkable.
Kayla struggles to adapt to her new life. After making her abusive husband her first kill, she becomes blind to Cain's love, her powerful gifts, and the dangers of the dark forces.
In spite of this, she begins to understand Cain's reasons for changing her, but her insecurities keep her from believing in his love until...

Her feet touched the carpet and noted she was wearing her favored white outfit, but did not remember putting it on. Perhaps Carl dressed her while she slept; perhaps to take her out for dinner as an apology for being a moron. READ MORE
Strange, she thought. She shrugged, strolling to the closet to change into her pajamas.
She flipped the switch and gaped at the huge room full of a beautiful selection of clothes, shoes, and bags.
"Wait a minute," she whispered and frowned. She never had an elegant wardrobe, but the garments and accessories did seem to be hers. Aside from the few items she knew she already owned, nothing else registered.
She walked back to the room and her eyes scanned the unusual, trendy pieces of unrecognizable furniture. Kayla rotated clockwise, finding no family pictures or of her cat, Mr. Biggins, on the wall or nightstands. Panic set in and tears began to flow. She spotted double French doors and scuttled to open them.
