Fans of Bridgerton and Outlander will love this richly textured and adventurous Historical Romance by International Bestselling Author Stacy Von Haegert.

Edward Kingston, Earl of Wellington, lives by a strict moral code: indulge in pleasure.

Edward lets his family represent the Kingston name with proper responsibility, while he secures the title of "Overall Cad". However, he makes an irreversible mistake by obliging one small favor, a dance lesson.

Morgan Sinclair needs a tolerable husband. Quickly! A season away with London's elite Bon Ton should help. Her aunt, the duchess, will make Morgan the perfect debutante. Many lessons are necessary first, but her future depends on it. Morgan and her charismatic dancing master, the Earl of Wellington, find themselves in a situation neither of them expected. Love.

The notorious Kingston's have a turbulent past of mystery and betrayal, but Morgan Sinclair has her own secrets looming. The couple must learn to navigate unprecedented obstacles...

...if their relationship is to survive.

By the time the coach pulled up the drive at Governors square, Morgan just wanted to take a nap. It was tiresome work being a grateful pin-cushion. She climbed the stone steps behind the duchess and her mother, ready to take her leave when they got inside. But before her foot had time to land on the last step, a butler stepped forward and handed her a calling card.

Morgan read it, smiled, and went straight to the sitting room where she found Eloise. A slice of lemon cake in both hands.

“I am so jealous!” the small blonde exclaimed once they were alone. “Have you any idea how lucky you are?”

Morgan let out a long-overdue sigh as she plopped down next to her new friend. “Yes, I have been informed. Madam LeMore is the best, and I am akin to a toad in the color yellow.”

“A toad!” Eloise gasped. “Did she really compare you to that?”

“At least she was being honest. I will take her assessment, gladly.” Morgan grinned. “Especially if she can get me looking half as fashionable as you.”

“You think me fashionable?” Eloise asked, genuinely shocked.

“Oh, Eloise, surely you have been told that petite blondes are the fancy?” She smiled, seeing the blush wash over her friend’s cheeks.

“Well, I have heard, but compared to you, I look mousy and not nearly as…dramatic. Why, your dance card will stay full the entire season,” Eloise said affirmatively.

“Dramatic?” Morgan considered the descriptive. There were certainly less appealing words. She rather liked ‘dramatic’. It made her think of something exotic. Or dangerous.

Eloise nodded. “Yes, dramatic. You do not look like you will blend into the wallpaper. Instead, you look like you could compete with it.”

Morgan considered her new friend for a moment. “That is probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.” She smiled, then tried to look serious. “Now, do not ever call yourself mousy. You are lovely, whereas…”

Whether this is your first in the series or you're reading them in order you will not be disappointed with this one. Edward is the second loose canon of the Kingston family. A year or so prior to this story we met sister, Greyland in Under His Protection (The White Rose Trilogy Book 1) . Where she is rebellious and wild Edward is secretive and hot headed. There is a connection between all of the siblings but I really enjoyed the relationship between Edward and Greyland.

Sandy Spencer on Amazon wrote:

Under His Guidance is the second in the trilogy -- and does as the first delivering romance, passion (some very steamy!) and fast paced action. The reader is given a mere introduction to the characters in the first book, and it is here, in the second, where we are made to fall in love with them, for their spirit, beauty and devotion to each other. The villain is a true baddy -- and you can't help but love to hate him. Set in beautiful England in an exciting Victorian time often complicated by strict social boundaries - the reader will love the story of how a young woman tries to navigate her way out of an almost impossible situation.

The world is ever-changing.

Most men change with it, other men refuse to adjust, and a few men move the world with them. Whether in primitive days or the ends of civilization, these poor fools find themselves in the worst straits their lifetime had to offer. A gardener. A political writer. A prisoner. A slave. A detective.

They’ve all made their beds in the world, but some aren’t ready to lie in them just yet. Some will drag the world down with them if they can.

The rain started as a gentle mist at first, but it grew to a steady thrum against the pavement as the streetlights buzzed and flickered to life. Mark drew his heavy duster closer to shrug off the spatter and the wisps of New England winds that threatened an early winter. Even when he wasn’t running around as Agent Aftershock, Mark enjoyed the security the duster’s built-in armor offered. The glob of hair gel with which he had tamed his short hair threatened abandonment, so he threw his long legs into full drive as he jogged from the bus station towards the address scrawled on the letter he had folded neatly into his hip pocket.

And he marveled at the rain. This Earth was both like and unlike Methaldian Earth. He smiled a little.

Firstly, this is a sequel, which I didn't realize, but aside from the first story they all stand alone quite well. The stories are imaginative and varied, crossing and blending genres, taking place in various alternative world's that can be almost identical to ours or wildly fantastical.

“Her name is Kerry Reid. They found her car abandoned, broken down on Beacon Ave near Jefferson Park,” Captain Johnson said.

“Just like that, her car breaks down and she’s gone forever,” Ricky added.

“Was she married? Any children?” John asked.

“No, she was engaged. The feds talked to her fiancée this morning.” The captain placed two files on the desk. “Here are your reports. I have to brief an officer in another case. Read up, ladies, and we’ll regroup in a bit.”

After a few minutes of scanning the report, John put the file down. “Anything here catch your eye?”

“Nope, nothing looks new. This guy is organized and efficient.”

“He obviously puts his time in. He had to scout these sites beforehand. He knew they would be vacant and undisturbed for a couple of days.”

“The property the barn is on was owned by the Talbots. The mortgage was foreclosed quite a while ago. The old man passed and the children weren’t keeping up on the maintenance, or the bills. They all live out of state,” Ricky said. “Everything this un-sub does is calculated.”

“We have to dig into this file, figure out his methods, his profile, his next move before he does,” John said.

“When I first hit the field in New York, a partner of mine had a saying: To stay ahead of a psychopath, you have to be willing to burrow into another man’s soul. See what he sees. Feel what he feels. Think what he thinks.”

“Your partner overlooked one small detail,” John said.

“Yeah, what’s that?”

“He assumed the man has a soul.”

Reviews:Trudie Collins on Amazon wrote:

I loved the first book in this series so I had great expectations for this one. I am glad to say I wasn’t disappointed; this one is just as good. Having read the first one, I was expecting a huge twist and was very pleased with myself when I figured out what was about halfway through. Unfortunately, I was completely wrong. Given how book 1 ended, I didn’t see how the author could write a follow-up and I’m delighted to say that he has done a great job of it. It makes sense and flows well.

kestrel watcher on Amazon wrote:

I picked this up because it was a thriller and the setting was Seattle and Western Washington. It didn’t disappoint. The story is a sequel about a homicide detective. Boiani takes the reader into the dark evil acts of a psychopathic serial killer. It isn’t a comfortable place to be. I had to stop a few times and step back. We all know there are people out there doing unspeakable things to others without any qualm and I imagine policemen see their fair share of that dark underbelly of humanity. The PTSD they have to handle as part of their job has to take a toll.

Maria on Amazon UK wrote:

Like Boiani's first two books I found this read refreshingly different and engaging.
The genre is crime thriller with a sizeable dollop of horror.
The writing style is distinctive. While the author is economical with words he tells an exciting, thought-provoking story.

Do you believe in miracles?

Cara and Lane lost their parents on Christmas Eve five years ago to a boating accident off the Gulf of Mexico. Every year since, they've continued the tradition of buying hot chocolate from Jimmy's Donut Shop and taken them to the pier, their pier, to say a prayer and leave the two cups for their parents to come down from Heaven and collect.

When two strangers showed up and the cups of hot chocolate left on the railing went missing, further investigating led the girls to a discovery they couldn't have imagined in their wildest dreams...

Miracles at Christmas can and do happen.

Bonus Story from Laura Ranger!

How do old people perceive the world around them when they near the end?

Mrs. O’Malley was a miserable old woman. She lived in a nursing home. Although much of her family lived nearby, no one ever visited. With the passing years, she became unbearable. Even the staff only did what was necessary to properly maintain her.

Abbey was an eighteen-year-old girl in mourning. She ended up doing chores in a nursing home away from any interaction with the residents.
After the two worlds collide, what happens will shock the staff and change Abbey’s life forever.

Read this inspirational, feel-good story, “The Crumpled Old Woman” today!

They strolled down the pier to where it ended about thirty feet over the water. They sidled to the left to give the couple space and saw the two cups they had left earlier in the morning were still there, the lids off and the contents gone. Cara made herself a student of oceanography while Lane quietly fumed beside her.
“Those were not for them,” she seethed.
“Shh,” Cara whispered. “You don’t even know if they drank them.”
“I know,” Lane said, shooting an accusatory look in their direction. Cara inwardly groaned, but luckily the couple seemed intent on each other. They heard the woman laugh lightly at something the man said.
“I’m gonna tell them we left them there for us so when we got back from church, we could drink them. Maybe they’ll give us our money back.”
“You will do no such thing,” Cara said, horrified. She gripped her sister’s coat to keep her from stomping over to them, a very Lane-like possibility.

Well, it’s not fair.”
“What’s not fair, young lady?”
Both Lane and Cara turned around, and they noticed in their whispering argument they had managed to work themselves almost right next to the couple.

“Talk to me, Shan. I see concern in your eyes.”
She sighed as she lay back against the sofa. “You see everything in my eyes.”
He chuckled. “Well, not everything. If I could see everything, I’d already know what’s troubling you. Talk to me, mia belleza. Whatever it is, we can fix it, yes?”
Shannon stared back into those pale hazel eyes, in sharp contrast to his dark, olive skin. “I talked to Kate today. She told me she’s pregnant again.”
He nodded at her, never breaking eye contact. He knew how much she struggled with Kate’s first pregnancy, and the fact Shade had to come to him for feeding. “Are you not happy for them?”
She closed her eyes tightly. “You know I am. I want only the best for them. Kate is like a sister to me. But Luca…when is it our turn?”
Luca leaned in to her, his lips brushing her cheek, his breath hot against her ear as he whispered, “Tell me what you need, mia belleza.

If it is mine to give, I will give it.”
Shannon melted under his spell, and swallowed hard as she answered, “You talk about eternity for us, but you never mention turning me. I need to know what you see for us. I need to know where I fit in.”

She looked away. Masculine conceit was not something she wished to indulge. Men, she chided, could be so like children at times.
“Hmm...I see.” She managed a smile and looked up at him again. “I'm very grateful for your concern for my welfare.”
“A lady in distress is worth it. I was, however, worried you might be unconscious for much longer.” He frowned. “What were you doing out so late? You should know it is dangerous by the docks at night.”
“I know. I was to meet someone there.”
“A man?”
She nodded. “Oui.”
“Any man who directs a lady to that side of town at such an hour is either desperate or an idiot.”
She smiled. “Well, desperation comes to mind...”
“Was he a suitor?” he inquired.
Perhaps she had said too much. “Really, Capitaine Hill. I wouldn’t think it would be of interest to you.”
“Call me Grant, Mademoiselle. I merely feel this man was in some way out to do you harm.

Most civilized men would never lead you there.”
“I fear I am somewhat responsible.”
An eyebrow rose skeptically. “’Twas not your suggestion, surely.”
“No, but I wasn’t well acquainted with this man. He very well could have been crazy.”
“And no doubt conniving.”
“Yes,” she replied softly. “It seems he set me up.”
He frowned. “They were hired?”
She nodded. A long silence stretched between them, but it didn’t bother her. She was content to lie back among the pillows. Her head throbbed, and her jaw ached terribly.
The puzzle of her current situation made it worse. Was it possible Jean had hired those men to ruin her, all so he could avoid an arranged marriage as well? But that was far too much trouble. He could’ve just been honest with her uncle. Surely, he would have understood. She would too. Yet, to stoop to such lows, to be in league with ruffians, told her a lot about the man’s character. In any case, it was better she be rid of him now. Monsieur Le Croíx wouldn’t remain in town if he truly had been involved in such a crime.

Reviews:R.R. Cratty on Amazon wrote:

Marie Lavender's -Upon Your Return, is a beautifully written love story set in the 1800’s. The relationship and trials between Fara Bellamont and Captain Grant Hill are carefully worded to capture hearts and minds.
Upon Your Return portrays the social and political struggles in France within the 1860’s. Particularly, the challenges Fara faces as a woman. The author touches upon the stirrings of feminism, classism, giving the read reality and life behind the romance.
Fara and Grant are strong, brave characters, both who defy the conventions of the time. Overcome obstacles for their love. Both characters are written with such care the reader keeps turning pages just to find out what will happen next.

I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys romance stories and appreciates good writing. It is one of those books you won’t want to put down and in the end the characters will stay with you, much like, Catherine and Heathcliff. Enjoy.

Romance Gal on Amazon wrote:

Marie Lavender's beautifully written love story between heiress Fara Bellamont and Captain Grant Hill captured my heart immediately. Set in 1860's France, the novel portrays the social and political struggles of that era, and the challenges Fara faces as a woman. Although a "man's world," that sphere could prove just as hard for a man not born to a position, such as Captain Hill. Despite their situations, Fara and Grant are bold enough and brave enough to defy the conventions of the time.

In Upon Your Return, the author touches upon the stirrings of feminism and uses period details judiciously, creating a sense of reality without ever boring the reader. Fara and Grant must travel a long, difficult road and overcome a lot of obstacles. We take that journey with them and hope that somehow, in the end, love will prevail.

I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys romance stories and appreciates good writing. It is one of those "rare gems."

Annie Edmonds on Amazon wrote:

One of those great romance books that could make a great movie. The way the author researched France in the 1860's, and then wrote a story around it was just magnificent. I couldn't put the book down. Anyone that loves a good love story with a strong woman as the main character will enjoy this book. If I could give the writer more stars for her style of writing I would..

How do past U.S. presidents avoid global panic?

Create a secret agreement with visiting extraterrestrials.

This well-researched, nonfiction book will give you a detailed, logical look at the most exciting presidential saga ever.

To get a better grip on the true ulterior reason for President Eisenhower’s suspicious Palm Springs trip and ET adventure, we have to backtrack first by zeroing in on the mid-summer of 1949 - by way of 2017...

Its authenticity is debated, but in June of 2017, an anonymous source leaked a shocking 47-page briefing document to syndicated radio podcast host Heather Wade. The congenial and candid Miss Wade soon went public with the report and it initially drew a few skeptical detractors, while many researchers feel it was/is authentic, deserving of great, serious scrutiny. It's a detailed January 1989 Defense Intelligence Agency summary of the extraterrestrial situation in America, likely drawn up during the Ronald Reagan administration, likely intended for the incoming new team of President-Elect George H. W. Bush (the Vice President) and his top advisers. {See Appendix.} One date on an early page of the DIA report is January 1, 1989, when President Reagan was vacationing in – of all places – Palm Springs. A second date, listed for an “Operation Majestic-12 preliminary briefing” with the data enclosed, was for Sunday, January 8, when Reagan had just returned from this southern California trip (and recent ring finger surgery). He then received a National Security briefing promptly at 9:30 a.m. in the Oval Office on Monday the 9. Within an hour, Vice President Bush met with the affable chief executive, for an hour’s discussion, digitized records currently reveal. Was it about the shocking, top-secret DIA report?

Paul Blake Smith’s new book, Eisenhower’s Close Encounters, is a page-turner. Ever since I was a young girl, I have been a fan of alien lore and even recall reading Project Bluebook, which I checked out of the library when I was in grade school. I am familiar with many of Smith’s references but not to the depth he explores the topic of President Eisenhower’s encounters and agreements with friendly aliens observing and visiting our planet. He leaves no stone unturned as he follows a detailed timeline of events along with all the key people who participated in these encounters.

Death is no match for love...

Nobody knows what happens after death, except Amber Deliah Matthews.

Just before her seventeenth birthday, Amber loses her battle with cancer and is reborn into a less than perfect life. She remembers everything that led up to this moment and now finds herself left with only an unloving family and Oliver, a friend, and the only person who ever believed her story.

Amber has never wanted anything more than to be whisked back to the life she once loved. So, when Amber and Oliver are given the chance to venture back to Amber's first family, they embark on the journey of a lifetime.

Equal parts moving and achingly poignant, She Remembers is a captivating story about love, loss, and the threads that bind us all together.

“Amber? Amb?” Oliver says, snapping me out of my daze. I blink as the images scatter away.
“Sorry,” I say softly. “What were you saying?”
Oliver takes on a wistful smile. He knows I was having a flashback; they happen so often.
“No worries. You said you wanted to go home. We have the money. We’re off of school because of this stupid suspension and literally right after our two weeks are up, we have April break. It’s the perfect time. You can go home. What do you say?”
My heart pounds in my chest when he says ‘home’. The reality of the situation dawns on me. We’re going back to Florida. We’re going to see my family. For the first time in fifteen years, I’ll see Mom. I’ll see Dad. I’ll see Micah. I’ll see Riley. Jack. Ellie. My friends. Shawn. I’ll be myself again.
But as much as I want to book a flight this very minute, I can’t. Today doesn’t belong to me, it belongs to Amber.

It belongs to her memory, it belongs to her legacy.
“Tomorrow. Tomorrow we book a flight.”
“Okay,” he answers.
I stand and flatten my skirt. “Come on, let’s go light her candle.”

She Remembers is a new novel by Ariana Glaser that will appeal to readers of young adult fiction. It is a unique story with an interesting twist-- a girl who dies of cancer at the age of 16 is reincarnated, but remembers every detail of her previous life. Amber’s desire to return to that former life is what drives her to take a bold step with only her best friend Oliver by her side.

With characters that make you think and a creative storyline, She Remembers demonstrates that Glaser is a promising young author. It will be interesting to follow her writing as she develops her craft.

Sherman Lancaster has lived 119 years. The only thing he fears is living 119 more.

Sherman wields a divine sword named DeeDee and delivers God’s justice to those who cross the line. Sherman’s two great-grandsons are coming to stay with him. The boys believe it’s because their mother can’t afford daycare. Sherman knows the truth—one of the boys will become his apprentice.

Sherman has sent legions of demons back to hell. He’s killed enough men to decimate a small country—but the odds are stacked against him this time. Before an apprentice can be named, Sherman must confront an enemy who threatens to unravel everything and doom him to another 119 years behind the sword.
He’s old and he’s tired.

Sherman Lancaster lives by a simple code to which there are no exceptions: The Guilty must pay.

The boys were wide-eyed and fully convinced they were dreaming. Whether it was a nightmare or a fantasy hadn’t been decided. They wanted to say something, but their vocabulary failed them. Everything they knew about the world changed. Their one constant was Sherman. They turned to him for comfort but found none.
Their great-grandpa was no longer the old man they knew. In the warmth of the Clearing, Sherman pulled off his coat and toboggan. Wearing only boots, jeans, and a tee-shirt, Sherman resembled their great-grandpa, but it was a slight resemblance only. His bald head was gone. In its place was a brown, floppy mop that touched his ears and curled. His skin was healthy, tight, and brown, and his ugly, black and sinister-crimson age spots vanished as if erased by God’s time-eraser. He was changed, new, and somehow fresh.
Sherman was young again, looked as young as Piper and Sebastian’s mama and daddy.

Muscles ran like steel cables through his chest and arms, and his leg muscles bulged and threatened to shred his jeans Hulk-style each time he stepped. He looked taller, and a ruler would have proven it a fact. He stood three inches taller and weighed a couple hundred pounds more. His ears and nose were again proportionate to his head.
This wasn’t Sherman’s young body. It was his spirit body, a term that would’ve meant nothing to Piper and Sebastian if Sherman had told them, so he didn’t. He let them think he was young again.
The zigzag doorway zipped itself shut behind them, and the Clearing came to life.

God, satan, avenging angels, a magical sword and evil humans. This author captures the essence of evildoers in this book. I couldn't wait for the guilty to pay and pay they did.

This is not a romance novel. Wicked and intense. Lots of sin going on down in Mississippi. Highly recommended reading.

Wow! The author does a great job depicting the battle between good and evil! The characters were well developed and I enjoyed watching their stories unfold. It has a little something for everyone. I also liked the fresh and new ideas about a magical sword.

This book is intense. Sherman, the main character, is an old man telling his great grandsons about his past. While hiding many secrets from them, he is preparing one of them for their future. The grand-kids love hearing their great grandpa's stories, it takes them away from their own problems. Lots of twists and turns. I won't give away the details, but it's worth a read.

Spanning the last ten years, Elizabeth Guider's unflinching but empathetic novel about finding yourself after divorce is a modern-day anatomy of love...

"We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give."

Dr. Ashton Mather Cole and his wife, Dr. Deidre Durrell Cole, are two college professors in a small Ohio town with a seemingly perfect marriage. But when Ashton's love affair with one of his students comes to light, everyone is left rattled, aggrieved, or bent on revenge.

Over the course of ten years, they and those around them strive--sometimes painfully, sometimes comically--to right themselves. New relationships don't come without their own false starts and sorrowful stops. Until...

Fans of Elizabeth Gilbert's "Eat, Pray, Love" and Meg Wolitzer's "The Wife" will devour this "insightful" and "heartfelt" Women's Fiction novel in one sitting.

"Spoiler! I absolutely loved this book. Their lives lured me in and I was there with them - in every twist of their journey." -Wendy Oberman, Novelist and Playwright

"The author has a knack for getting you to embrace her characters, however fallible and shortsighted, and believe in them." - Suzy Arthur, Author

More than these particulars, Jennifer did not feel it incumbent upon her to elaborate. In pleading her case to her parent, she had been vague about Dr. Cole's age, which she only knew because she had googled him early on during that poetry seminar she had signed up for. In truth, she had been intrigued by the word metaphysical, and needed just three more credits to graduate. She had not a clue who John Donne was. From the outset, though, she had admired how pleasantly the professor had called upon students, and no matter how off-base or banal their comments, he would find some nugget in the dross to burnish. Whenever she was asked to expound on an assignment, he seemed at pains to pull something arresting out of her mumbled remarks.

“If I understand you rightly—Miss, Miss Hazelton is it?—you are suggesting that Marvell's tone is more ironic than urgent when he makes his plea to the beloved. Would that be a fair assessment of how you read the stanzas?” And, yes, it would be henceforth how she read them, glancing around to note that her fellow students were impressed (except for her friend Kimberly, who knew her all too well).

Up to then, Jennifer had relied, heavily and successfully, on her pretty face but, thanks mainly to that class, it occurred to her that a functioning brain could be amusing as well. That explained her initial attraction to the relationship, and why she was so passionate about it; Ashton was passionate too but in a more basic sense. He was surrounded, if not smothered, by brainy people, starting with his wife. He craved Jennifer's body.

Bravo to Elizabeth Guider, whose deeply absorbing novel tracks the transformation of a family impacted by the father’s decision to leave after falling into a passionate but ill-fated love affair. Painted in realistic and very sensitive tones, the novel delves into the mind of the spurned wife, Dierdre, who climbs out of her intense feelings of insecurity and failure to discover new career paths and adventuresome romances. All the while she must deal with the sometimes-secret troubles of her gifted twin children. Our Long Love’s Day -- a title taken from Andrew Marvell’s most famed poem, “To His Coy Mistress” -- marries together the protagonist’s desire to write about strong women in the Middle Ages with her eventual life among some colorful Mississippi characters -- many of whom have engaging musical talents. Guider brings the whole mosaic together with a deft sense of storytelling.

This is a very moving wonderful perspective on life, love, family values and food values too!

The part of this I liked most was about attempts to stop divorce breaking up family; destroying everyone’s lives, especially our children's.

I know this well as lived through it myself.

Despite begging my then wife and our children’s mother, she moved out of our house leaving my two young teenage sons with me. After six months she hired a divorce lawyer who of course immediately told her to change all this because of child custody financial benefits!

In addition my ex, because of an account overseas in my name and hers, put me under a federal law suite (I chose not to prove it was under her name too because if she ended up in jail as well as me our children would have no parents).

Everyone in this expansive family saga misbehaves, most also misconstrue the motives of others, and a few willfully misrepresent themselves—with sometimes drastic results. Deftly constructed and set in several locales over the last decade, the story revolves around a professor of medieval literature named Deirdre Durrell, whose seemingly ideal marriage falls apart in the first chapter. Angry and disoriented, she spends a decade trying to keep her personal and professional life on track. No longer young but not ready to be “old,” she has to navigate particularly difficult terrain: it’s an engrossing journey, with new loves, rekindled friendships and serious challenges along the way. This book resonates with real and relatable feelings. I was left with memories to enjoy for a long time! Would be great for a book club discussion; I highly recommend Our Long Love's Day!
